Michael Cord, the musician & record producer, whose restoration and reissue of vintage Hawaiian recordings made an unparalleled contribution to the preservation of 20th century Hawaiian & Hapa Haole music, has passed away.
You may not know the name “Michael Cord”, but many of today’s Hawaiian music artists are regularly performing songs that his company, Cord International, restored from lost 78rpm recordings in the Territorial Airwaves archives, and brought back to life for new generations to perform & dance to.
Today, we’ll illustrate this by sharing some of Michael Cord’s releases of restored vintage Hawaiian music, from the Territorial Airwaves archives.
