The "49th State Fair" Radio Ad - Tex Ritter - 1952
Here is another radio ad promoting the "49th State Fair" on July 1-9, 1952. All of Hawaii was convinced that we would become the 49th State during the 1950s, not realizing at the time that Alaska would gain statehood first, and Hawaii would eventually become the 50th State of the USA in 1959. The Honolulu promoter, Wally Yee, provided the midway and rides. Tex Ritter was hired to appear at the fair, for his star had risen again as his old western movies made a comeback on early B&W TV.
