Sol Kekipi Bright, "The Hawaiian Cowboy", celebrated his birthday on Territorial Airwaves in 1982. Uncle Sol spied Harry B.'s scotch flask in his record bag, and persuaded him to share the entire pewter container before the 1 hour radio show was over. The stories continued through the afternoon, as the party moved to "Biggie's Nutshell" in Kailua, O'ahu. Needless to say, Harry B. was unable to keep up with Uncle Sol!

Territorial Airwaves ID Liner - Harry Owens - 04-20-1983
Harry Owens celebrated his birthday on "Territorial Airwaves" in 1983. Harry Owens shared many of the intimate stories about his composition that won the 1938 Academy Award for Song of the Year, "Sweet Leilani". Harry told us how he wrote the song for his first child, "Leilani", and then Leilani herself shared her memories on the program as well.

Benjamin "Kapena" Kalama, "Mr. Hawaiian Music", celebrated his birthday on Territorial Airwaves in 1982. Benny was a close personal friend of Harry B. Soria, Sr., so when Harry B. Soria, Jr. asked him to be a guest on his radio show, Benny graciously consented.

Territorial Airwaves ID Liner - Alvin Kaleolani Isaacs - 09-08-1982
Alvin Kaleolani Isaacs, "Hawaii's Ambassador of Good Cheer", celebrated his birthday on "Territorial Airwaves" in 1982. Uncle Alvin brought his ukulele and sang live in the studios of 1420 AM KCCN. (See "Manuela" in our Tributes section.) Harry B. Soria, Sr. & Alvin Kaleolani Isaacs were business partners for the KGU radio program, "Voice Of Hawaii". Imagine Harry B., Jr.'s surprise when Alvin voiced this ID liner, and referred to Jr. as "Kaleolani", the name Alvin had given to his friends son upon his birth. It was truly a magical moment as Harry B. instantly learned that the old family story was indeed true.
